Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Jennifer Yerkey has always known that dancing was her true passion. Jennifer began her dance training at the early age of two. For 14 years Jennifer pursued extensive training in classical ballet, pas de deux, Pointe, jazz, modern/contemporary, hip hop, and tap. She not only had the opportunity to train in many styles but also many well known schools including Atlanta Ballet, Georgia Ballet and Ballet Memphis. In addition to her dance training Jennifer pursued an education in Pilates ultimately obtaining her instructor certifications in 2011.
Jennifer had a lifelong dream of trying ballroom dancing and at the age of 16 she was able to take her first lesson, where she fell in love with the style. From that day forward she devoted herself to pursuing a career in ballroom dancing. She soon became a strong Pro/Am competitor at competitions, placing 1st at Manhattan Dancesport Championships, Hotlanta Dance Challenge and finalist at the United States Dance Championships and Ohio Star Ball.
In July of 2013 Jennifer became partnered with Patrizio Vasco from Italy. Patrizio is a very accomplished dancer in many styles including International Ballroom, International Latin, and Salsa. She is very excited about this new partnership and to be back out on the competition floor.
With over 14 years of classical training, 5 years in ballroom, and Pilates certifications Jennifer has a large amount of knowledge and understanding of dance and body mechanics. One of her true joys is sharing the love of dance. Through teaching she is able to introduce others to the joy of dance in a fun, positive atmosphere. As Jennifer's career in ballroom dancing grows, so does her passion. She looks forward to dancing and teaching for many years to come!
